Jon Richardson

Jon Richardson is a stand-up comedian from Lancaster. His first solo Edinburgh show about his obsessive compulsive personality disorder was nominated for the Best Newcomer award at the 2007 Edinburgh Festival. His 2009 show about his resulting perfectionism was nominated in the Best Show category. He is a regular Have I Got News For You panellist, star of Live At The Apollo, team member of Channel 4’s Stand Up For The Week and team captain of Channel 4’s long-running series 8 Out Of 10 Cats. Currently, Jon is team captain on the words and numbers game, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

His other recent TV credits include; Michael McIntyre’s Big Show (BBC One), Channel 4’s Comedy Gala Live At The 02, Never Mind The Buzzcocks (BBC Two), Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow (BBC Two), Grumpy Young Men (Comedy Central), Richard Bacon’s Beer And Pizza Club (ITV4), The Bubble (BBC Two) and Walk On The Wild Side (BBC Two). Jon has also starred on the Channel 4 documentaries, Jon Richardson: A Little Bit OCD, as well as Jon Richardson Grows up, a three-part documentary series in 2014.

Jon has also made appearances on numerous radio shows, including And The Winner Is (BBC Radio 2, hosted by Matt Lucas), Act Your Age (BBC Radio 4), The Museum Of Curiosity (BBC Radio 4) and is also a regular contributor on Five Live’s Fighting Talk. He has also hosted his own Sunday morning radio show on BBC6 Music.

Jon is a talented writer and contributor to national newspapers, most notably penning a cover article for the Guardian’s Weekend Magazine for its Valentine’s Day issue.

A regular on the stand-up circuit, Jon’s first gig was in 2003 where he won his heat of the BBC New Comedy Talent Search. After completing a 60 date UK with Alan Carr in 2006, Jon won Best Breakthrough Act at the 2007 Chortle Awards and went on to receive a Best Newcomer nomination for his show Spatula Pad at the 2007 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. This was followed in 2008 with a successful Edinburgh run of his second solo show Dogmatic and a subsequent Edinburgh Comedy Award best show nomination in 2009 for his third Edinburgh show, This Guy at Night.
