BBC Radio presenter Mark Dennison is preparing to be warm-up act for Rufus Hound at a one-off gig in Nottingham.
He will do a four minute set at Just The Tonic Comedy Club in the city centre on 18 March for Comic Relief.
"I must have been drunk or deluded [when I agreed to this] but hopefully it'll be a good money-raiser," he said.
"My set is going to be more observational than storytelling because I have a fundamental flaw - I can't remember jokes."
Mark is part of a line-up that also includes Wes Zaharuk, Julian Deane and Danny McLoughlin.
It will be the radio presenter's first live stand-up gig, after being persuaded to step forward by his producer.
Mark, who is on BBC Radio Nottingham, weekdays 12.00 - 4.00pm,said the closest he had come to live comedy was doing the announcements at the City Ground.
"We do quite a lot of ribbing Derby but that's not really a routine.
"It's just giving out the scores and usually Derby are losing so that's a fairly easy joke to do," he said.
In the build-up to Mark's big night he will be seeking advice from well known comedians on his show.
He will also be going on a comedy boot camp in London.
Comic Tom Stade, of BBC shows Mock the Week and Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow, has already offered Mark some pearls of wisdom on BBC Radio Nottingham.
The Canadian said: "If it all goes wrong you've learnt something - you're not the greatest comedian in the world.
"Maybe they'll laugh at you sucking. Seeing somebody die on stage is pretty funny too," Tom added.
With those reassuring words Mark has started working on his routine.
"I have got a bit of an idea about some props I could use," he said. "They could help with the problem of remembering jokes as well."
