Imran Yusuf is a skilful raconteur who seamlessly weaves socio-political satire with heartfelt introspection into his charming and endearing trademark style. Languid, punchy, and cheeky, Imran is an utterly lovable comedian. Born in Mombasa, Kenya, of East-African Indian origin, Imran’s journey has taken him performing around the world, and is a regular in London’s West End.
Imran’s impact on modern British comedy is undeniably significant. He debuted his first solo show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2010 with An Audience with Imran Yusuf, earning a five-star review on its opening day and a nomination for Best Newcomer at the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards. This was followed by his primetime TV debut on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow (BBC One), appearances on Edinburgh Comedy Fest (BBC Three), and his own pilot, The Imran Yusuf Show (BBC Three) in 2012.
Beyond stand-up, Imran is also an accomplished actor, with credits including Fried (BBC Three), Ultimate Brain (CBBC), The Missing (BBC One), Wanderlust (BBC/Netflix), Don’t Forget the Driver (BBC Two), Aladdin (Disney), The Pentaverate (Netflix), and Crookhaven (CBBC).
Imran also maintains a strong connection to the British games industry, where he previously worked as a games tester and assistant producer. He is a patron of GamesAid, the industry’s umbrella charity supporting smaller UK charities that help disadvantaged and disabled children and young people. Since 2013, he has produced the annual Stand Up for GamesAid fundraiser, with shows in London and Brighton. Passionate about social causes, Imran also supports organisations such as Medical Aid for Palestinians, travelling with them to the West Bank in 2017 to document their medical work under occupation.
Imran remains dedicated to writing, performing, and pushing the boundaries of narratives in comedy, having written and performed five solo shows. Imran is currently working on his next solo show ‘Soft Jihad” – a cheeky look at modern Britain and the karmic consequences that have brought us all here – alongside a new work-in-progress show, a sitcom and animation series, and a screenplay inspired by his childhood hero, Jackie Chan.
“Imran Yusuf’s show heralds the birth of a new comedy star. Intelligent, thought-provoking and laugh out loud funny it’s a glorious debut.” Time Out ★★★★
