Paul Currie

Paul Currie

Paul Currie is a Northern Irish award winning stand-up comedian, STREET CLOWN and a pioneer of absurdist avant guard stand up comedy. He has been pushing the boundaries of clown & stand-up ever since his debut in 2004.

By taking his brand of comedy which is a fusion of clown, surrealism, mime, puppetry, music, story and “in the moment” crowd participation he gently encourages audiences to think beyond the everyday comedy we are spoon fed via the TV and social media.

He has taken his unique style of comedy not only into regular stand up comedy clubs but also contemporary arts festivals and comedy festivals across the globe: from a fixture at Glastonbury for 10 years now where he broke the record in 2019 for gathering the largest crowd to date for a street act (3,000) to Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and from Belfast International Fools Festival to Utrecht International comedy Festival. Currie has also performed to many non English speaking comedy audiences with his use of physical comedy and mime to great success in Germany, Denmark, Belgium & the Nederland’s. He revels in breaking rules, opening audiences minds to other ways of laughing and showing people (mainly adults how to be kids again) and that comedy has as wide a spectrum of genres as music & fine art.
